PIN Number Means Protection
Satellite Television provider DirecTV makes using Parental Controls very easy. The entire system revolves around a PIN, or Personal Identification Number. This number is exactly like the one you use for your Bank ATM Card in that you are the only person that knows the number. It can even be that exact same number because you get to choose it. After choosing what type of programming you want to block from your children, Direct TV's Parental Controls will require your pre-selected PIN before anyone is allowed to watch. All you have to do is punch the PIN number in on your remote control in order to watch the program. Since you know the PIN you can watch without problems, but since your children will not know the PIN then they cannot even watch a second of it. Satellite TV Rating System Guides the Way
Not long ago, the government mandated that television shows receive a rating to aid parents in knowing what is appropriate for their children. This rating system is very similar to the rating system for movies. For example, TVMA for television is the same as R for movies and TVPG for television is the same as PG for movies.
